What is Amherst County Public Schools?
Amherst County Public Schools is located in the Piedmont Region positioned between the borders of the James River to the south and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the north. This Pre-K through 12th grade division serves a diverse population of over 3900 students and 800 employees. It consist of one comprehensive, four year high school that offers college preparatory, general and special education, as well as career and technical cooperative education courses. It has two middle schools that provide students introductory courses for career pathways and advanced curriculum, along with six elementary schools focused on building the foundational skills needed for a success.
