Portsmouth Abbey Monastery is an American Benedictine house of the English Benedictine Congregation, in communion with the Roman Catholic Church. The monastery is dedicated to St. Gregory the Great and Our Lady of Peace. This community of Benedictine Monks was founded in 1919 and the monks themselves live under the inspiration of the Rule of St. Benedict. The main apostolate for the monks is Portsmouth Abbey School, and the monastic community meets in the Abbey Church five times a day to pray for the needs of the Holy Catholic Church and the world.
