Group B Strep Support (GBSS) is a UK charity, founded in 1996. Our three objectives are to:

1. Offer information and support to families affected by group B Streptococcus;

2. Inform health professionals and individuals how most group B Strep infections in newborn babies can be prevented; and

3. Generate continued support for research into preventing group B Strep infections in newborn babies.

At Group B Strep Support, we believe that every woman should be fully informed about group B Strep and offered the opportunity to have a sensitive (ECM) test to detect GBS carriage late in pregnancy. The results of these tests can then be used to inform as to what further treatment may be needed, if any, to minimise the risk of GBS infection in the newborn baby.
