The main reason for this channel is to demonstrate my experimental efforts towards a better understanding of the chemistry and construction of Nickel Iron batteries. The basic idea is to show my small experimental baby steps towards a practical Nickel Iron battery made from readily available chemicals using DIY building methods. The Nickel Iron battery is arguably one of the best battery chemistries for storing electrical energy from photovoltaic systems. Although Li-ion batteries are the current state of the art, the metal they are based upon is in short supply. Elements like Iron, Sodium, Aluminum and Carbon are abundant. Future battery systems will need to be based upon these materials if electrical energy storage is to replace fossil fuels.
