The Texas Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) is a state-funded child and adolescent mental health initiative launched in 2020. CPAN provides real-time telephonic psychiatric consultation, continuing education, and referral/resource assistance to all Texas primary care providers (PCPs). There are no fees to the provider, clinic, patient, or health plan. The hub at The University at Tyler Health Science Center serves PCPs in the 25-county Northeast Texas region.

CPAN supports the bio-psycho-social approach necessary to meet the mental health needs of children and adolescents. Services include: (1) psychiatry consultation for differential diagnosis, medication recommendation and management assistance, and complex cases, (2) assistance for identifying appropriate therapies, behavioral health and safety planning, and validated mental health referrals/resources, (3) and a toolbox of assessment and screening tools for a wide array of mental health concerns.
