Somerset Day is promoted by a not-for profit Community Interest Company and champions this most beautiful and bountiful of British counties by supporting communities throughout the year.

We work all year round supporting events, building up to the weekend nearest to May 11th, Somerset Day, a day chosen in recognition of King Alfred the Great’s routing of the Vikings from his stronghold in the Somerset marshes in May 878.

We have the single aim of celebrating Somerset and all it has to offer and shouting this from the treetops.

In 2021 Somerset Day celebrations are limited due to Covid restrictions, however we are hoping the County will be turned into a sea of Somerset flags and we are encouraging everyone to Fly the Flag for Somerset from May 8th to May 11th.

Whether it’s the distinctive Somerset flag with its bright red dragon waving from a flagpole, or someone's own painted picture in their front window, this is the time to be Flying the Flag for Somerset !
