Pain Medicine as a specialty is concerned with the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of painful disorders. The diagnosis relies on a thorough history and pain-oriented physical examination, including interpretation of diagnostic tests and imaging studies such as X-rays or MRIs, and may require specialized diagnostic and therapeutic interventional pain procedures.Although many surgical afflictions are best treated by operative measures such as Neurosurgical or Orthopedic surgeries, a majority are treated successfully with conservative procedure treatments that deal with pain management via injections, nerve blocks, and spinal/peripheral nerve stimulation amongst various other interventional pain medicine therapies. Sometimes it is not possible to completely alleviate all of the patient’s pain. Our goal, however, is to provide functional restoration so that patient can resume as much of a normal life as possible.
