The Intelligent Buildings Group is a special interest group that emphasizes the importance of the building services engineer in the design, management, and operation of intelligent buildings1. The group assesses the whole life value of intelligent buildings and develops strategies for healthy and sustainable buildings using appropriate levels of technology. They also explore innovative approaches such as smart materials and nanotechnology, and embedded sensor technology.
The group holds events and competitions to promote intelligent building design and architecture. It was founded by Professor Derek Clements-Croome' Reading University' in 2006. Dr. Yangang Xing, Nottingham Trent University' is the current chair of the group. The committee consists of a wide range of experts, including academics and industry professionals.
