Preston Atkins (2005) is an American Bassoonist pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg in the class of Marco Postinghel. Previously he studied at the Curtis Institute of Music under Daniel Matsukawa, and the Idyllwild Arts Academy under Martin Kuuskmann. Among accolades, Preston was invited to participate at the Muri Competition (2023) and the Aeolus Competition (2024). As an orchestral musician he has toured America and Europe as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), the New York String Orchestra, and others, under conductors such as Daniel Harding, Antonio Pappano, Ion Marin, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and Osmo Vänskä. He has also been a member of the chamber music residency of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, and has also appeared as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestras of La Crosse and Vancouver (USA).
