The European Institute is Columbia University's interdisciplinary center for teaching and research on Europe.

Founded in 1948, the European Institute at Columbia University is the oldest academic institution in the United States dedicated to the study of Europe. The Institute runs the European History, Politics, and Society (previously Modern European Studies) MA Program, which is a part of Columbia's Graduate Schools for Arts and Sciences.

The Institute also holds a number of public events throughout the school year, which are open to the public. For those not able to join us in person, this page will post both excerpts and full recordings of our events after they occur.
