Memphis in May International Festival is a month-long civic celebration that hosts the city’s largest events every year. Founded in 1977 with an initial budget of $52,000, Memphis in May International Festival has grown to become a $10 million non-profit organization.
The mission of Memphis in May International Festival is to promote and celebrate Memphis culture, foster economic growth, and enhance international awareness through education.
In addition to several major events (Beale Street Music Festival, World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, Great American River Run), Memphis in May International Festival also produces extensive education, international and economic programs for the city.
