A 64-year-old man found himself in the hospital after farting in the face of a South Carolina woman on Monday night, according to a report by the Smoking Gun.

Myrtle Beach resident Jessica Cerney, 34, was reportedly sleeping on her couch when a drunken Darrell McKnight made his way into her home.

Preliminary reports don't seem to indicate how familiar the two were, but our guess would be quite familiar, based on what happened next: McKnight reportedly 'passed gas' directly in front of her face.

It apparently stunk up the room badly enough for Cerney to leave her home.

McKnight followed her outside, where an argument apparently ensued and left the aging man with a swollen right eye after getting three punches to the face.

Cerney, who was completely sober, told police McKnight came at her in "threatening manner".

Both were issued citations for fighting.
