Manipur Violence: ‘Shoot-At-Sight’ Orders Issued As Violence Escalates In The State Amid Protests By Tribals

Violence has been reported from several places in Manipur. The Indian Army has now said that the situation has been brought under control in Moreh and Kangpokpi. Efforts are being made by the forces to restore normalcy in Imphal and Churachandpur. On May 4, the Manipur government issued ‘shoot-at-sight’ orders in extreme cases as violence escalated in the state. Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the chief ministers of Manipur and neighbouring states. Over 9,000 people have been evacuated and shifted to safer places.
