A report by the Center for Legal and Social Studies entitled "The Impact of Drug Policy on Human Rights-The Experience in the Americas" reveals that in Peru the 20-year U.S.-coordinated war on drugs has resulted in authoritarianism and lack of transparency and accountability. Campesinos have been targeted for alleged ties to drug traffickers and Shining Path (SL) rebels and their human rights have been severely violated. The remnants of SL are now involved in the trade trade with civilians caught in the middle. Rael Mora reports from Lima. teleSUR
