A massive blaze left five people dead on January 21 at vaccine-maker Serum Institute\'s Pune facility, at a building that is under construction. A second fire broke out hours later & was brought under control. Visuals showed thick smoke rising from the building. The smoke made it difficult for firemen trying to bring out the trapped people. CEO Adar Poonawalla, tweeted saying that the production of Covishield, the coronavirus vaccine developed by the SII in partnership with the Oxford University and British-Swedish pharma firm AstraZeneca will not get affected. A few more people trapped in the building were rescued. It took around three hours for firemen to bring the blaze under control. The fire is believed to have started because of an electrical fault. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted to say he was anguished by the loss of lives. Watch the video to know more.
