‘Standing’ means when I play the the piano, I put away my chair, stand up, bend my knees and play the piano without using pedals. ‘Symmetry’ means after playing an original song, with doing the same motions of right and left hands, I play the symmetrically transposed version again.
Our body is symmetrical, and a piano keyboard is also symmetrical - the alignment of left keys of middle ‘Re’ is almost the same as that of right keys. But the piano sounds are not symmetrical - the pitch of keys is getting higher moving from left to right. So when playing the piano symmetrically, the music is changed significantly.
When you play the ‘standing symmetry piano’, diseases and pain can be prevented like herniated disc and forward head posture caused by bending your neck and back while sitting, and weakened lower body and knee arthritis due to sitting all the time, and pelvis tilt by stepping on a right pedal.
You can do exercise and achieve body balance while playing the ‘Standing Symmetry Piano’. Enjoy watching~!
